Jupiter is a gas giant.  It is made entirely out of hydrogen and helium.  It has no solid surface.  It has three rings and seventy-nine moons.  One Jupiter day is about ten Earth hours, while one Jupiter year is about eleven Earth years.

Jupiter is the fifth planet and is the fourth brightest object in our solar system.  It is also the largest planet.  It would take us almost thirteen months to get to Jupiter from here.  It is named after the the king of the Roman gods.

Did you know that with just about seventy-five times more mass, Jupiter could have been a star?  Some people think that planets, like Jupiter, are failed stars.  That is because they are very similar to the sun in many ways.
